More about Banded butterflyfish

The Banded butterflyfish (*Chaetodon striatus*) is characterized by its distinctive black, white, and yellow stripes that run vertically across its body. Originating from the Western Atlantic, including locations from Brazil to the Gulf of Mexico and as far north as Massachusetts, this species showcases a flat, disk-like body typical of butterflyfish. It has a prominent black stripe that runs through the eye and another at the base of its tail. While it is recognized in the aquarium hobby, it is not among the most popular species, partly due to its specific dietary and care requirements.
