Lesser electric ray

The Lesser electric ray, Narcine bancroftii, is a small, dorsoventrally flattened fish prevalent in the western Atlantic Ocean, ranging from North Carolina in the U.S. to northern South America. It has a typically sandy or muddy color that blends with its coastal, shallow water habitats. This fish is distinguished by its round body shape, paired electric organs located near the head, and a lack of dorsal fins. Despite its unique ability to produce electric shocks, it is not commonly kept in aquariums or widely known in the hobbyist community.
