More about Polleni grouper

The Polleni grouper (Cephalopholis polleni), also known as the Harlequin rockfish, features a distinctive dark body with blue to light blue spots, coupled with a yellow-orange rim around its eyes. Originating from the Western Indian Ocean, specifically around the coastlines of Madagascar and the Comoro Islands, this marine species inhabits coral reefs. Characterized by its robust body and large mouth, the fish grows to a length of about 40 cm (16 inches). While not the most common in the aquarium trade, the Polleni grouper is appreciated by hobbyists for its striking appearance and is considered a rare find for enthusiasts of larger marine aquariums.
