Tank Setup

The Queen Angelfish requires a large and spacious aquarium to thrive, ideally no less than 200 liters per fish to accommodate its swimming needs. It’s essential to replicate their natural habitat to some extent which includes plenty of live rock for algae grazing and caves for hiding. The temperature of the water should be maintained between 22°C and 26°C with a pH level between 8.0 and 8.4 to ensure the best health and vibrancy of the Queen Angelfish.

Water Quality

Maintaining pristine water conditions is crucial for the health of the Queen Angelfish. Regular water changes of 10-20% biweekly or 25% monthly are recommended to keep nitrate levels low. Efficient filtration is also necessary to handle waste and to maintain stable water parameters. The use of a protein skimmer in saltwater setups can help remove organic pollutants and maintain water clarity.

Feeding

The Queen Angelfish is omnivorous with a tendency towards herbivory. Its diet in the wild predominantly consists of sponges, algae, and other encrusting organisms. In captivity, it's vital to provide a varied diet that includes both meaty foods and a significant amount of marine algae and prepared angelfish formulations that contain sponge material.
