Sergeant major damsel

The Sergeant major damsel (Abudefduf saxatilis) is recognized for its distinctive vertical black stripes on a silver-white body, resembling a military uniform, which is the origin of its name. This species is native to the Atlantic Ocean, ranging from the United States to Brazil, and is also found in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. The fish has a deep-bodied and laterally compressed shape, making it easily identifiable. In the aquarium hobby, it is moderately popular due to its hardiness and striking appearance, although its territorial behavior can pose challenges in community tanks.
