The substrate should be a fine, deep sand bed of several inches to facilitate their natural burrowing behavior. Incorporate various sizes of rocks to create potential burrow stabilizers, which these fish may use to reinforce the areas around their homes.

Maintaining water quality is crucial, so ensure stable water conditions with temperatures ranging between 22°C and 26°C and a pH level between 7.8 and 8.4.
