The Skunk Cleaner Shrimp, also known as the Scarlet Cleaner Shrimp, is a popular choice for marine aquariums due to its vibrant coloration and beneficial cleaning behavior. This shrimp features a distinctive red stripe running down its back, flanked by bright white sides. It prefers temperatures between 24-28°C (75-82°F) and a pH range of 8.1-8.4. The Skunk Cleaner Shrimp can reach a maximum length of about 5 cm (2 inches) and primarily resides in the mid to bottom levels of the tank. Known for its peaceful temperament, it gets along well with most reef inhabitants. This shrimp is highly prized for its ability to clean parasites and dead tissue from fish, making it a popular and hardy addition to many reef tanks. It is not rare and is widely available in the aquarium trade. It is recommended to keep them in groups of two or more in a tank size of at least 30 liters (8 gallons) per shrimp.
