Alternanthera Cardinalis

Alternanthera Cardinalis, commonly known as Red Temple or Scarlet Temple, is a striking and vibrant aquatic plant species. Its distinguishing feature is its intense red coloration, which adds a bold and eye-catching contrast to an aquarium.

Considered a relatively easy plant to care for, Alternanthera Cardinalis is suitable for both beginner and experienced aquarists. It has moderate growth and can reach a height of 12-20 inches (30-50 cm) under proper conditions. This plant prefers nutrient-rich substrate and adequate lighting for optimal growth and coloration. While it can thrive in a range of water parameters, providing a slightly acidic to neutral pH (approximately 6-7) is optimal.

While CO2 injection is not essential, it can enhance the growth and color intensity of the plant. Adequate fertilization with a comprehensive liquid fertilizer or root tabs is recommended to ensure its vibrant red coloration remains vibrant. Alternanthera Cardinalis can be propagated through stem cuttings, making it an excellent choice for aquascaping and creating beautiful focal points within the aquarium.
