Tank Setup and Water Conditions:
- Guppies are highly adaptable but thrive best in a guppy tank of at least 40 liters (10 gallons) for a small group. A larger tank size is ideal if you plan to keep more fish or include tank mates.
- They prefer a temperature range of 22-28°C (72-82°F), with a slightly alkaline aquarium water pH of 7.0-8.0.
- Clean, well-filtered water with moderate flow is essential. A weekly water change of about 25% will help maintain water quality.
- Adding live plants to your freshwater aquarium not only enhances the aesthetics but also provides shelter and comfort for the guppies.
Feeding:
- Guppies enjoy a varied diet of flakes, pellets, frozen foods, and live foods like brine shrimp or daphnia. This balanced diet will bring out their best colors and keep them healthy.
- Providing high-quality food ensures that their immune systems remain strong, especially if you’re planning to breed them.
Tank Mates:
- Guppies are peaceful fish and do well with other small, non-aggressive fish species. Ideal tank mates include corydoras, neon tetras, and other livebearers.
- Be mindful of species known as fin nippers, such as certain tetras or barbs, as they may damage the flowing tails of male guppies.
