The Leopard Bush Fish requires specific care to thrive in captivity. Its natural habitat is densely vegetated waters with plenty of hiding spots, so replicating this environment is key. A well-planted tank with floating plants, driftwood, and leaf litter can provide the cover and subdued lighting they prefer. They are adaptable to a range of water conditions but do best in slightly acidic to neutral pH levels and temperatures between 24-28°C (75-82°F).

This species is a carnivorous predator and prefers a diet consisting of live foods such as small fish, insects, and invertebrates. However, they can be trained to accept frozen or high-quality prepared foods over time. Due to their predatory nature, they may view smaller fish and invertebrates in the tank as potential food. Therefore, they are best kept with tankmates of similar size or larger, and their relatively peaceful temperament allows them to coexist in a community setting, provided their companions are chosen carefully.
