Tank Setup

A minimum school size of five is recommended for the Stinging Catfish, with at least 20 liters of water per fish. These fish can be surface, mid, and bottom dwellers; thus, providing ample vertical space in the aquarium is essential. Ensure the tank is equipped with hiding spots, plants, and substrates to replicate their natural habitat, which can help minimize aggressive behaviors. Regular tank maintenance is necessary at a moderate level to keep the water clean and the environment stable.

Feeding

The Stinging Catfish has a varied diet. It can be fed flakes, pellets, bloodworms, brine shrimp, tubifex worms, frozen shrimp, vegetable matter, algae wafers, and color-enhancing foods. Additionally, offering daphnia, micro worms, and freeze-dried foods can provide nutritional diversity. Feeder fish and stick-on tablets can also be included occasionally to mimic their natural hunting behaviors. Consistent feeding at regular intervals is advisable.

Breeding

Breeding the Stinging Catfish can be challenging due to their highly aggressive nature during this period. Ensuring a separate breeding tank is advisable to protect other tank mates from possible territorial and aggressive displays.
