Pavona Care Guide

Caring for Pavona corals in an aquarium is relatively straightforward, making them a good choice for intermediate reef keepers. They thrive under moderate to high lighting—LEDs or T5s work well—and prefer medium to strong water flow to keep their surfaces free of debris. While they are hardy and adaptable, stable water parameters are crucial: aim for calcium around 400–450 ppm, alkalinity between 8–12 dKH, and magnesium near 1300 ppm. They can tolerate a range of nutrient levels but do best in clean, well-maintained tanks. Pavona corals do not require feeding, but they may benefit from occasional target feeding with fine particulate foods like reef roids. Give them space to grow, as they can encrust rock quickly and may sting nearby corals.
