More about Coral banded shrimp

The Coral Banded Shrimp, also known as the Banded Cleaner Shrimp or sometimes the Boxer Shrimp, is a striking marine invertebrate highly prized for its vibrant red and white bands and long, white antennae. Native to tropical reefs, this species is a popular choice for reef tanks due to its colorful appearance and practical cleaning abilities. Reaching a maximum length of around 6 cm (2.4 inches), Coral Banded Shrimp are typically bottom dwellers and prefer to establish territories in rock crevices or sheltered areas. They are known to have a semi-aggressive temperament, especially toward other shrimp of the same species, so it is generally best to keep them singly or as a bonded pair. These shrimp thrive in well-established reef aquariums, where stable water conditions are essential to their health.

The Coral Banded Shrimp is sometimes called the Boxer Shrimp because of its distinctive way of holding its pincers up like a boxer ready for a match.
